Mandated Reporter Training

Mandated Reporter Training is a self-paced learning module that is designed for professionals identified by law who must make a report if suspected or known child maltreatment has occurred. This training features videos, quizzes, and activities that can be completed through self-study. If you have questions, contact us at info@mnchildwelfaretraining.com.

Technology Requirements: This self-paced training features videos, quizzes, and interactive content. For the best learning experience, we recommended using a computer or tablet that has the latest version of Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge browsers. Please do not use Internet Explorer. This training includes audio, and closed captioning is available.

The course you select below will depend on your job title and responsibilities. Select the option that is right for you.

Mandated Reporter Training

This option is for anyone working in:

healthcare
social services (with the exception of workers that carry cases in child welfare and/or child protection)
mental health
child care
education
guardians ad litem
law enforcement
coaches
probation/correctional
clergy
foster parents

You will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end.

Mandated Reporter Training for Child Protection Workers

This option is for Minnesota county agencies and tribes that carry cases in child welfare and/or child protection, as well as their supervisors and a small number of private providers who deliver child welfare services on behalf of the counties.

You will need a Training Portal profile to access this course, and completion will be recorded in your training transcript.

Mandated Reporter Training for Youth Programs

The state of Minnesota has updated reporting requirements for Mandated Reporters. These updates place new reporting requirements on Youth Program staff. In short, as a Youth Program employee, you are considered a Mandated Reporter. You must be prepared to report suspected or known child maltreatment. This training will prepare you to do that.

You will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end.

The Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy (MNCWTA) is a collaboration between the Child Safety and Permanency (CSP) Division at the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) and the Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare (CASCW) at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. CSP formerly was part of the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS).
